Chirping Away, the newest endeavour by Strangebird~Sounds, traverses across solitude and dreamscape spheres in a timeless adventure; from soaring background audials to synth-sound on clouds, Chirping Away opens up the atmospheric vast to ascend the great unwind.

Tracks by Strangebird hatch their beginnings from experiment and simple melody. The modular synth systems are a great way to nestle out shape and form, from where sounds can grow and expand into what we now hear on Chirping Away.

By the use of field recordings, gathered on many journeys, city walks, some tracks on the album are enhanced over background sounds, providing ambient pleasure.

Greg, aka Strangebird, started his sound-experimentations at a young age, sneaking into his brother’s always-forbidden music room and there connected mics to effect, effect to stomp box, and stomp box to the thing-with-no-name, to chain it all together into pure invention.

Later on he started to play drums and mixed tracks for various dub bands, often live at local venues. At the time, he began producing music with DAW’s, but due to his experience gathered by mixing dub, Greg has become a gear-driven fan, looking at external modules and FX. From here it was only natural to go full modular.

Playing the modular synth is intuitive, immediate, hands on, and enables the connection of all things to everything. This is the kind of freedom Greg seeks when making music.
